Na gemeenschappelijke tentoonstellingen in 2017 en 2018/19 besloten Con Mönnich en ik om opnieuw een project samen te doen. Het werd het Royal Canal project. Louter toeval, want ik had er al eens getekend als ik bij Maureen Ahearne logeerde in Glascorn en Con werd door het kanaal gecharmeerd toen hij het een keer kruiste. We zouden er in het voorjaar van 2020 mee starten. Het ging toen niet door vanwege de reisrestricties gedurende de Covid-19 pandemie. Maar het bleef in de pijplijn. Zelfs als we er los van elkaar aan moeten werken, gaat het door.

After the exhibitions Con Mönnich and I did together in 2017 and 2018/19 we wanted to do aother project together: the Royal Canal. By accident we both got interested in the 18th century canal that begins in the Dublin Docklands and ends in the Shannon river. I had sketched the canal near where Maureen Ahearne lives and Con was charmed by it when he crossed it. We were going to start with the project in the spring of 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing travel restriction put it on hold. But it is stilling in the planning even if we’ll have to work on it separately.
